The clinical mental health counseling courses include Couple and Family Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, Advanced Treatment Planning and Interventions, Ethical, Legal and Professional Issues in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Practicum, and Counseling Internship.
The 60-credit Master of Arts in College Counseling is designed for students seeking to work as professional counselors in postsecondary institutions. The required courses include Introduction to Student Affairs in Higher Education, College Student Development Theory, Ethical, and Legal and Professional Issues in College Counseling. Students can select from two specializations: clinical college counseling or college counseling and advising. Students must also complete a 600-clock hour supervised counseling internship experience.
The 50-credit Master of Arts in School Counseling provides competencies and proficiencies for school counselors in elementary, middle, and high school settings. The courses include Counseling with Children, School Counseling, Postsecondary Planning for School Counselors, Ethical, Legal and Professional Issues in School Counseling, Field-Based Experience, Counseling Practicum, and Counseling Internship. Students in these two degree options must also complete a 500-hour practicum.
The 30-credit Master of Arts in Educational Psychology focuses on psychological theories, principles, and concepts in school and non-school settings. The courses include Basic Concepts in Educational Psychology, Principles of Educational Research, Sociology of Education, Seminar in Educational Psychology, Principles of Learning in Education, and Psychology of Creativity for Educators.
The 90-credit Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology provides students with expertise level of clinical psychology concepts to prepare them to become fully licensable clinical psychologists. The courses include Psychological Statistics, Cognitive and Affective Processes of Behavior, Developmental Psychology, Scientific and Professional Ethics, Psychopathology, Interpersonal Processes in Psychotherapy, Methods of Teaching in Psychology, Models and Methods of Service Delivery and Supervision, and Doctoral Clinical Internship. Students must complete an area of emphasis in adult clinical, developmental psychopathology, applied behavior analysis, assessment, or health. A dissertation is also required.
