American Military University offers a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Psychology. Both programs are offered completely online.

The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology studies the human mind and concepts of developmental, organizational, and abnormal psychology. It focuses on the application of the science of human behavior to clinical, academic, vocational, and personal settings. A total of 120 credit hours are required for completion of the degree, including general education courses, major courses, and elective courses. The major courses include History and Systems of Psychology, Psychopathology, Biopsychology, Statistics for Social Science, Research Methods in Psychology, Human Life Span Development, Personality Theories, Professional Careers and Education in Psychology, and Perception. Students must also choose courses in social/developmental psychology and clinical/forensic/applied psychology. Graduates of the program are able to convey the major theoretical, historical, and conceptual ideas of psychology. They can describe the education, training, and duties of psychologists. They are able to compare common methods used in psychology research and evaluation of data. They are also able to assess how behavior is influenced by a variety of factors at the internal, environmental, and cultural levels.

The Master of Arts in Psychology combines scientific theory and principles with academic research and relevant abilities that are desired by the psychology field. It focuses on the factors related to human behavior, such as lifespan development, social and cultural diversity, personality, assessment, and psychopathology. Through the online platform, students interact with instructors and peers to learn how to improve human mental health and well-being. The program requires the completion of 39 credit hours. Students must choose one of the following concentrations: General, Developmental/Personality Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Military and Trauma Psychology. The core psychology courses include Introduction to Scholarly and Technical Writing, Professional Ethics and Standards, Tests and Measurements, Multicultural Issues in Human Behavior, Qualitative Methods in Social Science Research, and Quantitative Methods in Social Science Research. Graduates of the program are able to investigate historical and modern trends within various areas of theory, research, and practice in the psychology field. They can apply core concepts of psychology to normal and abnormal functioning. They are also able to apply the Ethical Principles of the American Psychological Association.

American Military University is a private, for-profit online institution of higher learning based out of Charles Town, West Virginia. It is a part of the American Public University System. It was established in 1991 by Marine Corps officer James P. Etter. Its goal was to provide career-relevant education to a diversity of military students.
