Within Regent University’s School of Psychology & Counseling, students have several options for graduate degrees and doctoral degrees, and virtually all of these degrees are also available online or in certificate format. Students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, as well as a variety of graduate and doctoral degrees in the subject. For students who choose the Bachelor of Science in Psychology program, online sessions are eight weeks in length, and students must complete a total of 120 credits to receive their degree. Students in the program will take a number of courses in Biblical study as they begin their education at Regent University and continue with general education courses and classes related specifically to psychology. Some of the classes in psychology a student will take include Cognitive Psychology, Multicultural Psychology, and Social Psychology. Students will also take two classes in Spanish.

For students at the graduate level, all graduate degree and Ph.D. options are available online, and the certificate program in Psychology & Counseling is available online, too. Students who choose the Master of Science in General Psychology do not need to take the GRE to gain admittance, and students can choose from several concentrations to suit their interests. Concentrations include Addictions, Marriage & Family, Cyber-psychology & Cybersecurity, Leadership Coaching, Doctoral Preparation, and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Classes in the program are taught with a Christian worldview, and the degree is designed as a non-licensure option.

Within the realm of counseling, Regent University offers four graduate degrees that are all available online. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage, Couple & Family Counseling, and School Counseling are also available on campus for local students. Students in graduate counseling programs will enjoy classes delivered by faculty who have earned terminal degrees in their specialties, and students are also eligible for internship placement in their state of residence. Regent University is an evangelical Christian institution that was established by televangelist Pat Robertson in 1977 as Christian Broadcasting Network University. Pat Robertson remains the chancellor of the university. The school was first accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1984, and the institution changed its name to Regent University in 1990. More than 8,600 students are attending the university, which offers associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in 70 different disciplines. Regent University Application Requirements

Applicants to programs at Regent University require a high school diploma or a passing grade on the student’s GED exam. The university lists several qualities of high-achieving and successful students that include possessing achievements in non-academic areas, agreement with the university’s mission, and strong self-discipline. Students who are above the age of 22 may provide evidence of work and life experience to augment their application. Students who want to apply to graduate programs at Regent University will apply through the Office of Graduate Admission but will check with the department that houses their preferred program for specific admissions requirements. The university offers several start dates for sessions so that students may apply for entrance to the university in any season.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Regent University suggests the average rate paid by a student enrolled for classes is $16,000 per year. In most cases, this means a total of $17,288 for undergraduate students and $13,326 for graduate students. The university also suggests that students will pay around $1,000 for books and supplies. The cost per credit for undergraduate students is $707, and the cost per credit for graduate students is also $707, but those rates are for out-of-state students. In-state students may receive a discount on tuition if they can prove residency. Students who live on campus will pay an estimated $7,128 for room & board and $3,743 for other expenses.

Students can qualify for financial aid at Regent University in the form of student loans, scholarships, and grants. Scholarships available to students include the North Carolina Community College Award, and the Virginia Community College Award. The university also provides around 24 million dollars in institutional scholarships each year, and more than 85 percent of students receive some type of financial aid.
